Research Interests: environmental outcomes from economic regulation, feedback from spillovers and uncertainty
Chris Severen’s academic interests bridge economics, environmental studies, and urban development. Economic growth has brought unparalleled well-being to many people, and in doing so has also created new maladies. Both the state of and the human relationship with the environment play an increasingly important role as society continues to grow both in population and consumption. What drives these issues? How can society best manage this relationship? Several questions motivate Chris’ research: How do economic organization and regulation alter incentives and human and environmental outcomes? How is this changed when there are spillovers or under uncertainty?
