Research Interests: business sustainability, environmental performance and competitiveness
Antonio Lloret is an Associate Professor at Instituto Tecnologico Autónomo de México. In 2007, he earned his PhD in Environmental Science and Management at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Lloret worked in the financial and retail sector for over 10 years before moving to academia. His current work explores the intersection of sustainability and competitiveness with business, and specifically, how society can achieve further progress toward a sustainable future by harnessing the power of the business sector and fostering its alignment with sustainability goals. His research is focused in three areas: (1) identifying changes relating to improved environmental performance in the business sector and who or what motivated them; (2) understanding how these improvements have affected competitiveness; and (3) understanding the social context within which business operates and that context’s changing nature. His methodology uses interdisciplinary tools drawn from the disciplines of economics, political science, and the study of the natural environment to answer highly relevant, timely questions.
